Before You Book

Booking Policy

clear · fair · transparent

These policies are in place to protect your time and mine. I put a lot of care into each appointment — the prep, the design, and the time I set aside for you specifically. Please read through before you book so we're on the same page from the start.

If you have any questions about anything here, just send me a DM on Instagram before booking.

Deposit

A deposit of £20 is required to secure your appointment. This is deducted from your total balance on the day.

Your slot will not be held until the deposit is received. Payment details will be sent after your booking request is confirmed.

If you cancel or reschedule with more than 48 hours' notice, your deposit is fully refunded or transferred to your new date. Within 48 hours of the appointment, or for no-shows, the deposit is forfeited.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • More than 48 hours before your appointment — you can reschedule free of charge and your deposit transfers to the new date, or is refunded in full if you cancel.
  • Less than 48 hours before your appointment — the deposit is forfeited and a new deposit will be required to rebook.
  • Same-day cancellations — the deposit is forfeited. If a balance has already been paid, it will not be refunded.

Please let me know as early as possible if something comes up — I understand life happens and I'll always try to be as flexible as I can with good notice.

No-Shows

If you do not show up for your appointment without any notice, your deposit is forfeited and future bookings will require full payment in advance.

A no-show means another client missed out on that slot — so I ask that you always get in touch as soon as you know you can't make it.

Late Arrivals

Please try to arrive on time. If you're running late, message me as soon as you can.

  • Up to 15 minutes late — I'll do my best to accommodate, but your design may be simplified if time is tight
  • More than 15 minutes late — the appointment may need to be rescheduled and the deposit forfeited

Preparing for Your Appointment

  • Please declare any existing product on your nails when completing the booking form — this allows me to allow time for removal and ensure I have the right supplies, as I won't know in advance what product was used (removal charges apply)
  • Avoid picking or biting nails or cuticles before your appointment
  • If you'd like to discuss your design further, feel free to get in touch. Please give as much advance notice as possible of any design changes.
  • Let me know in advance of any allergies, sensitivities or nail concerns so I can prepare appropriately

Nail Repairs

I want you to love your nails — and I stand behind my work. If you experience an issue, please message me with a clear photo as soon as possible.

  • Within 72 hours — free repair on the affected nail(s) with the same design, if the issue is due to application
  • After 72 hours — repairs from £4–£6 per nail depending on length and complexity
Repairs are not covered if nails have been damaged through picking, peeling, trauma or misuse. If you're unsure whether your issue qualifies, just message me — I'll always be honest with you.

Pricing & Add-ons

Prices shown are starting prices and vary by length, tier and any additional details. Your final price will always be confirmed before we start so there are no surprises.

Add-ons such as charms, 3D elements and crystals are charged in addition to your base and tier price. Removal of existing product is also charged separately if not already included.

Right to Refuse Service

Glow by Gil reserves the right to decline or end an appointment if a client is rude, disrespectful or behaves in a way that makes the environment feel unsafe or uncomfortable. The studio is a calm, welcoming space — and I ask that it's treated that way.

Health, Safety & Aftercare

Your safety comes first. The short health screening on the booking form helps me make sure your appointment is right for you — most things are absolutely fine, and I'll always talk anything through with you before your appointment.

When I may not be able to proceed

For your safety, I may need to gently reschedule or adjust your appointment — or arrange a patch test first — if there is:

  • An active skin or nail infection, or a fungal or bacterial condition on the hands
  • Open wounds, broken skin, or significant inflammation around the nails
  • A recent allergic reaction to nail products, or a known or suspected HEMA / methacrylate sensitivity that hasn't been patch-tested

If any of these apply, I'll be in touch to reschedule for when you've healed, or to arrange a patch test. Your deposit is protected in these situations.

Patch tests

If you've reacted to gel or acrylic before, are prone to sensitivities, or would simply feel more comfortable, I'm happy to arrange a patch test ahead of your appointment. Just let me know.

If you notice a reaction afterwards

Reactions are rare — but if you notice persistent redness, itching, swelling, warmth or discomfort around the nails after your appointment, please keep the area clean and message me with a photo as soon as you can so I can advise.

If you ever experience severe swelling, difficulty breathing, or any symptoms that worry you, seek medical advice straight away. This guidance does not replace professional medical care.

Concerns or complaints

If anything about your experience or the result isn't right, I genuinely want to know. Please message me directly at hello@glowbygil.co.uk with the details and any photos, and I'll respond personally and fairly — usually within 2 working days.
